What is The Gig Economy
What is the gig economy ?
In English the word gig means the concert. Because we have often paid the musicians for an evening by task and once the ball is over. Canadians speak of "jokes" as odd jobs or underpaid odd jobs. The gig economy therefore covers an economic reality in which multiple self-employed workers and subcontractors are paid by the task and not by the month with a single employer.
But this economy goes well beyond this method of contracting. It foreshadows a kind of global concert made up of hundreds of millions of musicians, coming from all over the world, competing on gigantic digital platforms, trying to produce harmonious music at the lowest cost. It is clear that today it is still the cacophony.
