A techno-class is a theoretical social classification in which individuals are defined by their ability to understand, access, and interface easily with modern technology (e.g., computers, programming, mobile phones, hardware, software, wearable technology, etcetera). Society bestows certain privileges upon people with abilities and knowledge in this area or upon people who are perceived by others to have those skills. This is independent from, although related to, questions of what privileges may have contributed to the person having a certain “techno-class” status.
