Day One

Objectives: By the end of the day you should

  1. be able to set up, run and put away a simple DJ system
  2. understand what are sources, mixers, amplifiers and speakers
  3. be familiar with common types of connectors and cables
  4. know how to look after the equipment and use it safely

Day Two

Objectives: By the end of the day you should

  1. be able to run a powerful sound-reinforcement installation safely
  2. understand the concepts of signal path, cross-over network, equalisation
  3. know how power is supplied to the components of the 1in12 PA
  4. be able to do emergency shut-downs, know where the fire extinguishers and exits are, and power-up safely after an emergency shut-down

Day Three

Objectives: By the end of the day you should

  1. be able to make a simple live performance sound good
  2. understand the basic functions of a mixing desk
  3. know about some different kinds of microphones, how to use and look after them
  4. be familiar with DI boxes, stage boxes, multi-cores and foldback
