Protocol of the meeting: FRIDAY 24TH OF MARCH 2012

Summarization and reflection on the 15.O demonstration
(Rudolf)
The demonstration was a good thing to do. I has brought us the possibility to speak on TV and to get visibility among the general public.
Nevertheless, the polemics about the right-wing infiltration has contaminated the message with too much of an old political separation. The group must not be politically/practically involved in the discussion. In this perspective, the demonstration is perhaps not the best way to interact with the public. It could be better to do some other kind of event!

(…)
The movement is not party-based: we have to search for consensus beyond political sensitivities.
But in order to acquire visibility, the demonstration remains a good way.

(…)
There are differences between the Spanish movement and the Austrian one.
But still, it is important to demonstrate also in a (relatively) good situation like the Austrian one.
The movement is not political: Let’s abandon the right-left division! Let’s speak about a new way to do politics in a bottom-up perspective.
(Santiago: The movement has to grow! Step by step, going on demonstrating)

(…)
The demonstration remains important in itself, but what is even more interesting and inspiring is to participate in preparing and organizing together with the group. It is an opened, free, self-empowering process that in the end is also projected to the general public. That is what the movement is all about.

(…)
We have to search for other forms of communication in order to involve the people. Some kind of provocative ways to convey our messages beyond the demonstration!
Action instead of demonstration!

(…)
Practical: The mobilization process was a little slow. Have to take this into consideration for the next time and perhaps begin sooner and have more time to organize it properly.
Plus, the logic of the assembly and the flow of the speeches did not really work out. How to enhance this aspects?

(Paris)
Positive: Spontaneous actions took place during the demonstration:
- Panels
- Box of desires
- Spaces for spontaneous improvisation (art-like initiatives)

“negative”: Lack of communication. The people did not know about the different elements and possibilities.
I don’t say that we have to organize the actions (spontaneity is important) but we have to organize and communicate the general context a little better.
(…)
Very positive:
- There was a totally different way of expressing democracy
- The people did respond very well to the demonstration. The “stimmung” was really good.

(…)
Politic is unavoidable.
(…)
The big demonstration is perhaps not the best way, at least in Austria and in 2012…since they belong to another historical period and nowadays it is difficult to mobilize the people in this way.
The group agrees to take into consideration the possibility to organize an opened assembly at the MQ the 30th of march. The KKuK group (Santiago, Luca, Giorgio) agrees to upload some more precise content about the project in order to give a better idea of the overall context and concept of the project.
We will then discuss it the next Friday as one of the main topics.
