1.Open round

During the open round, we all introduces ourselves. A new member told us about his proposal to include Heldenplatz during the demonstration of October 15th. Maybe even celebrating the open assembly at this place. He told us about the original project for the square (before WWI) and how one building is missing on the left side from the original plans. We accepted the proposal and agreed on discussing it during the October 15th point of the agenda. We also talked about the (now solved) problem with the about.me site earlier this week.

2.September 17th

We discussed about the actions we are planning for this day (see protocol August 25th, point 2). We talked about the possibility of finding a figure (picture, painting, sysmbol, etc.) to represent the “avarice” (Geiz). One the options proposed was Scrooge McDuck (Tío Gilito in Spanish or Dagobert Duck in German). Another option was to show pictures of children starving to prove that “Geis” isn’t “Geil”.
Regarding the notification, 2 people offered themselves to take care of it early next week. Another member will write a text explaining the action, and also including information about September 17th worldwide. This text will be on we.riseup so everyone can modify it or add any information during the weekend (deadline Sunday September 04th at midnight).
As agreed last week, the action will be on September 17th at the main entrance to the Millenium City (at the square between the underground station and the mall), between 16:00 and 18:00 hrs. It must be clear for everyone, this action is NOT about looting! As we have always said, we are a peaceful group.

6.Banners

During this week, we had an offer to use some old shits and paint to make banners. We all agreed on going there on Friday September 2nd at 18:00 hrs to make the banners (as it is a private address, anyone interested in joining us, please ask someone in the group, as we can’t publish the exact address).

5.Flyers

The Volksstimmefest is taking place on September 3rd and 4th at the Jesuitenwiese in Vienna. We have agreed on going there and handing out flyers for October 15th. We talked about the flyer and decided we will try to have a final version of the flyer (modify the text, maybe more content or more information about what October 15th means). The flyer is available on we.riseup. Everybody who wants to improve the flyer can do it there. The deadline for these improvements will be Saturday September 3rd at 12:00 hrs.
Some flyers will be already printed on September 2nd (as we make the banners). The last flyers will be printed on Saturday.

3.Already contacted groups / new groups we want to contact

As already mentioned during last week’s assembly, we are contacting as many groups as possible. There’s a list on we.riseup where ANYONE can add contacts, groups, or whatever information he or she thinks could be interesting to contact. Also on the list, we mark the already contacted groups, so we don’t send them the same text everyday.

There is a “text to send to others” document also on we.riseup, but there is no final text yet. At the moment there are 3 different texts in German. Maybe we could try to combine them to get the definitive version. EVERYBODY is welcome to contribute by writing a new version or just improve the already existing texts. In case you add a complete new text, please add it at the top (without deleting the other 3).

4.October 15th

For October 15th, we had a proposal to change the itinerary and include Heldenplatz. There was also a proposal to include the House Döbling. For the House Döbling proposal, we decided to wait until next assembly, as the person who proposed it wasn’t present and we didn’t know exactly why it was being proposed (and it is far away from the planned itinerary).

We discussed about having the open assembly at Heldenplatz instead of Stephansplatz. Some people thought, Heldenplatz might be too big (in case we are not that many people) and not as central as Stephansplatz. Other people thought, it would be better because of the symbolic (close to the Parliament and the Kanzlei) and more comfortable at the lawn.

We didn’t make a final decision, so this can be further discussed also with the groups joining us on October 15th.

7.Internet tools and security

During this point we discuss that we may have too many platforms. About.me might be not the ideal platform to publish on the flyers, because it is just a collection of links and you have to continue looking for information.

We decided to include the last text on we.riseup (“Text to send to others” at the about.me, so people not only find links, but also a little introduction.

We discussed about the possibility of using just one platform like facebook, but many people are not on facebook, and some people don’t trust it.

We all agreed the best platform would be to have our own website where we could give all needed information and also include afterwards as many links as we want, but that people who visit the site for the first time can have an idea of what we are doing without having to search for it.

For the moment, as we don’t have a website working, we will keep the about.me link at the flyers.

Our next meeting will be on September 08th at 19:00 hrs at Altes AKH Hof 2 (in case of rain or bad weather, at GEWI coffee room, also Hof 2).
