Assembly 3rd March 2012
Where: Amerlinghaus, Vienna
Time: 18.00-20.30
Assistants: 12 people
Main language: English, although that was once questioned, if somebody can’t speak English we should find the way not to discriminate him or her, through properly translation.
Before approving the today’s agenda Susan proposes to add another point: the idea of the movements “Occupy Austria” and “Echte Demokratie jetzt” (which tend to have a lot in common, if they’re not the same thing) working together and joining in a big assembly. But the assembly decides it’s something we can include in the point “Do we want to work together”? So, the agenda today was:
1) Presentations
2) Call for global action in May 2012 and preparation of local actions
3) Do we want to work together?
4) Internet
5) Next meeting
6) Others
After the presentations, we decide to begin with the explanation of the project in collaboration with the art group KKuK (Kunst, Kultur und Konfliktforschung), which leads us to the second part of the second point. This action will take place the 30th March 2012.
París presents the project and Luca explains it as a member of the art group. The project’s name is “Untergangart”, and basically wants to confront the idea of the end of the world, with the different attitudes regarding the ways we react to such a fact. We as a group are invited to represent the option that tends to rethink the system, not to give up.
There will be also parallel actions the same day, with the participation of different artists (e.g. Leopold Gästler, Lucas Bush, Nicolas Gerand, Corinna Milborn, Tobias Nöbauer, Ines Omann…). This actions will take place indoors in the Museumsquartier (MQ) and an entry will have to be paid (11 €).
We’re invited to act outside (of course here no entry will be reclaimed, so it’s free) and we discussed and proposed several ideas, but first we decided to set our aims regarding this action and seeking the 12th Mai. Our actions will be consequent with our aims.
This group is supported and sponsored by the Tanzquartier Wien and Thomas Jelinek (dramaturge and stage director).
Consensus about our aims:
-To gather more people.
-To get the attention to the 12th and 15th of May. We understand the 30th March also as a date to get to the 12th May.
-To spread our ideas.
According to these aims, several people suggested different actions. E.g.:
-The “pure” assembly outside in MQ, taking place parallel to the “inside” on the 30th March.
-Information point.
-To make flyers, posters, artistic drawings onto panels, critical paintings, collages… We could count on Thomas Jelinek so that they provide us this material.
-Expositions.
-To distribute flyers in the underground. We should ask for permission and pay more or less 25€ a day in order to stay permanent in the station.
There were consensus about the Assembly and the creation of material such as critical drawings, collages, posters…
We decide to create as well some Working groups in order to optimize our human resources.
At the moment the created groups are:
-Information and Communication (these ones will be separated, because they both include a huge among of work).
Members: Susan, Salvador, Raquel.
-International. Members: Veronika, Patricia, Salvador.
-Facilitation. Members: Veronika, París, Patricia, Salvador.
-Base camp for the next 12th May. Members: Veronika, Patricia, Rudolf, Mónica. This group will meet one hour before the weekly Assembly.
Susan offers herself to summarize ideas for the flyers we can print for the 30th of March or the 12th of May. Anybody who has an idea can send them to her email address:

We all agreed that it is important, that the next meetings take place outdoors. We decided to start the next assembly (next week on Friday) at 18.00 in MQ, and then –just in case the weather doesn’t help us- go to the Amerlinghaus and continue the meeting there. Someone should reserve a room in Amerlinghaus in order to make sure that we have a place there.
The next meeting will take place then:
Wenn: The 9th of March.
Where: MQ. Meeting point: next to the “Kantine”.
When: It starts at 18.00 and will go on until more or less 20.00
Proposal of agenda for the next assembly:
-Presentation of the “Working groups”.
-Ideas about what there should be in the “Information point”.
-Ideas about how to “connect with other people”.
-Should we work together? (we should think each of us of the possible groups we could call to work together and bring our proposals for this assembly).
