Michael P. Domjan is currently a professor of Psychology at UT.
Domjan has made offhand remarks in his lectures on topics pertaining to gender, sexual
assault, race, and class that students have found insensitive or triggering. Recorded instances
include the following:
- In discussing the reflex within certain animal species to “freeze” when afraid, Domjan
said, “The freezing reaction is what gets you raped.”
- Domjan has dealt in the idea that how women dress can be a form of “deception,” also
saying “There’s nothing natural about Megyn Kelly’s looks, not her make-up, not her
hair…. I mean I didn’t look at her breasts….”
- Describing a University in Peru where Domjan traveled to speak, he referred to “walls
around the University so the locals don’t steal everything.”
Administration response: Campus Climate Response Team has been contacted about Domjan’s
comments and provided no confirmation that any action was taken.
