College admission essays are an important part of the college admission procedure. Everybody has a dream college they want to join, and admission essays are one difficult obstacle that they face while pursuing their dream. -        The introduction and conclusion paragraphs should be flawless. The admission officers do not usually have time to go through the entire essay, so they read the opening and closing of the essay to get an idea of how the essay will be. Hence, make sure to use attention-grabbers and complete information in your introduction and conclusion.

-        One thing that I definitely take care of when I write my essay is to not use clichés. These clichés can be words, phrases, or even sentences. Such as starting your conclusion with the phrase ‘in conclusion’ or including ‘never judge a book by its cover’.

-        Plagiarism is a big NO. Avoid taking anything from any sources and try to be honest and real with whatever you write in the essay.

-        Before submission, proofread the essay yourself and have others review it for you as well.

Prompt 1: What is your story?

Prompt 2: A lesson you learned from an obstacle. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, and tell us how it affected you and how did you overcome it?  

         From this prompt, the admission officers want to know how good you are at handling pressure and what experience you have with challenges and even failures. Therefore, you need to mention an experience about a trial that you succeeded or failed in, and how it influenced you.

Prompt 5: Is there something that fascinates you?

Prompt 6: Have you ever stood up for yourself or anyone else? How did you challenge other’s beliefs, and what were the consequences?

In this prompt, you are required to talk about your personal belief or an idea that you accept as true. You are required to share an experience of whenever you defended that idea or belief of yours and what you learned from it.

Prompt 7: Write on a topic of your own.

This prompt provides you with an open choice to select a topic of your own. You can either write on one of the above-discussed prompts or create a prompt of your own. However, you need to keep in mind that the admission officers need to know something about you that is unique and out of the application that you have submitted.
