Climate protests, global warming, climate change – these aren’t just buzzwords. They are words that younger generations use to express their concern about the environment. It is high time everyone started to listen to them. A growing movement is being formed around the globe to protect the earth for the future. Every action counts. The plantation trees project is a great way to help restore the health of our planet.
Forests have many benefits¶
Trees play an important role in the larger environment. They not only look beautiful but also provide a source of income for RESIDENTS as well as a home for many animals. Forests are natural climate solutions, helping to reduce global warming and air pollution, as well as increased rainfall. According to environmentalists, reforestation and ecological rehabilitation could provide more than 35% of the greenhouse gases mitigation required to stabilize global warming and keep it below the critical 2oC threshold.
The quality of the natural environment is greatly improved by planting trees. Trees in forests and copses reduce soil erosion and improve the quality of streams and ponds. They also protect groundwater supplies. Not only do forests store water under the leaves and stems of trees, but also water is absorbed by plant tissue and stored there until it is released into the environment via evaporation or transpiration.
The hydrologic cycle is a complex and intricate process that allows water to be converted from atmospheric vapor to precipitation on the ground and back to vapor by transpiration and evaporation. Trees play an important role. This process is crucial for our survival. It has an effect on soil and surface moisture, ecology, animals, and sedimentation.
Soil erosion is more common in areas that have had large-scale tree removals or are left to fallow. Rainwater is either absorbed into the soil or drained into streams by surface drainage. Surface runoff from heavy rainstorms can be excessive, and the topsoil can become loose and wash away. The topsoil layer or organic soil layer becomes exposed, and the mineral soil layer is exposed. Once this happens, very little vegetation will grow in the area to stabilize it. Mudslides and rockslides are more frequent.
Growing on a Large Scale¶
Every tree matters and you don’t have to plant on a large scale. However, the more trees that individuals, governments, communities, and municipalities plant, the more we will all be able to benefit. Ethiopia planted 353 million trees in July. This was part of a larger reforestation campaign called Green Legacy, which is being led by the government. It encourages every Ethiopian to plant at most 40 seedlings. For this national green initiative, some Ethiopian government offices were even closed.
Think Local, but Be Global¶
It’s not only good for the planet, but also for you and your community. Tree-lined streets can improve curb appeal and attract wildlife to your neighborhood. Additionally, planting trees on unutilized land in your community can create beautiful green spaces and recreational areas for everyone to enjoy. The trees can be used as natural snow-fences or windbreaks. Large, well-established trees can provide shade and privacy for your garden and increase the home’s value and make it more appealing to potential buyers.
