The tenuous “truce” brokered yesterday between the government of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukoyvch and the Euromaidan opposition appears to be fallen apart already. Paramilitary titushki thugs still roams the streets armed with guns, snipers have again been spotted, dozens of activists have been reported killed, and scores injured protesters are being treated in makeshift field hospitals. There is now another allegation that a Russian Spetsnaz (special forces) officer has been “captured” by Euromaidan protestors and hauled onto stage, with his martial insignia as evidence that the Kremlin has already sent military forces in to quash the months-long rebellion. • Ukraine protesters take 67 policemen hostage, says ministry, Published on Feb 20, 2014, 10:54 PM KIEV (REUTERS) – Ukrainian anti-government protesters are holding 67 policemen hostage in the capital, the country’s interior ministry said on Thursday. Earlier the ministry said “Berkut” riot policemen had been armed with combat weapons, an attempt to regain control of violent protests in which at least 50 people have died since Tuesday. “To free the hostages police have the right to use their weapons,” the ministry said in a statement posted to its website. A further three policemen were unaccounted for, it said."

[via russland.ru

Joint Conference of the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission with the Russian president at the end of the meeting was full declaration of willingness to cooperate. Contrary to previous announcements, Moscow has not been openly criticized for exerting pressure on Ukraine, that this has not signed an association agreement.
A joint EU-Russia consultations at expert level regarding the EU association agreements with countries behind its eastern border, said the head of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy. – The idea is to explain the different interpretations and misunderstandings in this case – it keeps Rompuy.
That Russia disputed contract, believed that the signing of the document by Ukraine will to the detriment of its economic relations with the country. Now Vladimir Putin accepted the offer of consultations. – We need to carefully set the watches that showed the same time, we understand the issues as well – said the Russian president.
But it raises questions and doubts whether this means subservience to Russia, will it affect the negotiated agreement and that time will not intentionally delay the talks. For example, Moldova and Georgia want to sign an association agreement with the EU later this year . Details of the consultation was not disclosed.

During the press conference, President Vladimir Putin was also asked about the loan for Ukraine in the amount of $ 15 billion. – We will talk with any government, no change in loan terms or gas agreements. These decisions were not for government assistance, but for the people of Ukraine – said the Russian president. Vladimir Putin also said that Russia respects, respects and will respect the sovereign rights of all countries, including those that arose after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Russian President refuted allegations of interference in the internal affairs of neighboring countries answering journalists’ questions. EU leaders, who officially recounted the course of the meeting, I did not take this subject. They emphasized that the talks were only sincere and open.
In Brussels, you can hear that it is difficult to expect that criticisms European leaders have changed the conduct of Russia’s foreign policy. You should not be expected and decisive steps, for example, by the freezing of relations with Russia. For now, the contacts are limited and the worst in recent years. And the hot topics of the past as energy, trade and visa can now go into the background.
