The workshop discussion covered logistics of classes and class content. I was able to give examples of how Free Ride runs classes to add to the discussion.
A lot of the discussion focused on answering key questions about different aspects of classes.
Games¶
- Bike Puzzle
- Can make a puzzle out of bike parts that are choped or taken apart
- Scavenger hunt
- Can get people to learn the shop by doing a search for various items
Confidence building¶
Order the classes and the content of the classes to build confidence. For example, if somebody is able to take-on and do well with something they thought was super complicated (takng apart a hub) then they will have a confidence boost. However, if they are constantly told they are wrong on something they think is simple (fixing a flat) then they may have their confidence reduced.
Classes evaluation¶
The session was led by sibley bike depot folks. We can email them (jason[at]sibleybikedepot.org) to get the questions that were discussed in the workshop. The questions can be a really good way to evaluate our current classes in order to improve in the future.
