WTFQ (Women’s Trans Femme and Queer) Night at Free Ride is for women, trans, queer, and femme people and anyone who has experience gender as a barrier to using a bike shop. Women’s and Trans night occurs every Wednesday at Free Ride.
During WTQF Nights, we strive to create a positive environment where women, genderqueer, and trans folks can work together to make repairs and solve problems. We emphasize making people feel more confident about wrenching, especially if you are new to it. If you want to make repairs to your bike, or just want to wrench around and troubleshoot on one of our recycled bikes, then this is for you.
We understand that bike shops and bicycling culture in general can seem uncomfortable or even unwelcoming to non-male people. Free Ride, as a community organization, tries our best to facilitate an inclusive environment that is friendly and safe for ALL people at ALL times. We also find that is appropriate to host Women and Trans focused programming as a way to extend an extra welcome to those of us who identify as women, trans, and genderqueer.
