We’re a radical, DIY media collective and we run an open newswire for the North of England at northern.indymedia.org . We enable campaign groups, activists and other voices that are usually excluded or abused by the corporate media and information services, to publish securely and to tell their own stories. By joining in this process, you make us all stronger.
Come and meet us in our solar-powered field media centre at York Peace Festival. Activities you could get involved with include:
- Learn how to report your own news in writing, photography or audio/video recording
- Discuss the political aspects of media, and why a DIY approach matters
- Find out how to use free software in your media production
- See how computers and other hardware can be used in a socially and environmentally responsible way
- Plan how you or your group can use media in your future campaigns
