Composting Grant

Stand-alone or bundled with other grant applications

Program Description

The composting program will consist of one staffer, who will make use of a private vehicle. The staffer will network with neighborhood and community partners (private households, local businesses, non-profits, community groups, etc) to arrange regular (weekly?) pickup of food waste, and carbonaceous material (cardboard, etc) in modular containers (5 gal buckets with locking lids). Staffer will then conduct composting activities at a specified location (Landslide Community Farm lot at 5th & Brenham? other loction?). Finished compost will then be available to, in order of preference, local neighborhood (Uptown/Hill District/SoHo) residents/community gardens, Landslide Community Farm, and residents in other areas of Pittsburgh. Delivery of finished compost will be possible as logistics permit. Staffer will contribute to other projects of Landslide Community Farm as scheduling and logistics permit.
