Emotional Care Organizing

As we work to create and maintain 40 farms in Oakland from May 1-June 15, it is vital that we keep our emotional selves nourished, so we can be fully present with ourselves and engaged with others as we work to build a better world.

Ways to engage:

If you would like to offer emotional care, please use the Offer Emotional Care page.

If you would like to request emotional care or talk about a way that your emotional needs aren’t being meet, please use the Request Emotional Care page.

Use the Emotional Care Discussion to share strategies, discuss types of care, and network between others interested in building a strong community of emotional care.

Caring for yourself, caring for your community

The unsustainable lifestyles of the old world are easy to fall into because the script has already been written for you. When you’re working to create a new way of doing things, it can be easy to get in over your head.

If you are struggling emotionally, you are not alone. Articulating your needs is a huge first step, and in the long run it helps everybody. We all want to be able to meet each other’s needs to create a resilient, thriving community.

Look over the emotional care offerings that that others in the network have made. Don’t be afraid to request emotional care.

If you are ready to offer care, please make an offering or organize an emotional care event and add it to the main calendar.

Sometimes caring for others can help us with our own well-being. But don’t forget that learning to receive care is often much harder, but it is the most valuable key to creating a better world.
