National Association of Women in Construction
NAWIC’s mission is “To enhance the success of women in the construction industry.” The organization has chapters in cities across the country however, its membership tends to be predominantly white collar (architects, engineers, lawyers, etc). Some chapters offer scholarships for women in apprenticeship programs.

Professional Women in Construction
Professional Women in Construction (PWC) is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing professional, entrepreneurial and managerial opportunities for women and other “non-traditional” populations in construction and related industries. With 6 chapters and over 1,000 members, PWC serves a constituency of close to 15,000, representing a broad spectrum of the industry. As its mission, PWC encourages and advances the goals and interests of woman and minority owned businesses.

PWC’s members represent a broad spectrum of the industry that serves real estate owners, developers, facilities & property managers and public agencies. They include general construction and specialty contractors; A & E firms, environmental services and suppliers of all kinds of goods and services. Because our core client industries have many and diverse needs, PWC also draws representatives from the services sector: law and accounting firms, insurance/surety & bonding companies, banks and financial services, graphic designers, printers, computer consultants, travel agencies, marketing specialists and more. Membership is open to business and professional women and men, private companies and public agencies in construction and allied industries.

Sisters in the Building Trades
The mission of the Sisters in the Building Trades is to expand a network of active women that will affirm building trades sisters as a positive and growing part of the construction workforce. To increase the number of trades women through cooperative recruitment efforts and mentoring support for enhanced retention. Hold regular meetings allowing women to network and share their experiences; match mentors to new trades’ women; enter into partnership with disadvantaged women to provide encouragement and hope; and reinforce appropriate workplace conduct. Increase public awareness of construction careers; provide speakers to career fairs and other outreach opportunities; support recruiting efforts of apprenticeship programs; and use our skills in volunteer work.
