Photos and planting plan of an Experimental Useful Woodland Pasture/Meadow in East Sussex
Taking forward the idea of traditional English wood pasture to create a food/useful tree pasture/meadow system. The trees are in (widely spaced) rows to allow easier tractor etc work. The Pasture is managed as species rich meadow and so is cut for hay end July, and grazed with local traditional species of sheep and cattle from hay cut until end December. The trees are growing in cattle/deer/sheep/rabbit proof shelters and are a wide selection of species, both traditional and unusual: Cherries and Apples to Sweet Chestnut cultivars and edible hawthorns. The blank pics in the gallery are the field planting plan as of 12/2010. You will need to join the we.riseup.net network in order to view the photos/files in the forums.
