U.S. President Ronald Reagan visits Paramount Studios

This Day in Star Trek History: April 18, 1991: Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan visits Paramount Studios Stage 8 to watch the filming of TNG's season 4 episode "Redemption". Being a big Star Trek fan, Reagan noted, upon seeing Klingons running around everywhere: “I like them, they remind me of Congress.” Another classic anecdote has Gene Roddenberry walking Reagan through the sets when he dropped his cane - Reagan reached down to picked it up for him, after which Gene noted “I felt as if I had been knighted.” Patrick Stewart also recently recalled a moment during the visit where Reagan just sat himself in the Captain's chair, without asking! One of the perks of being President....
