Hey guys! Could you please share with me some insights on what is KYU number? Thanks in advance for your answers! |

I remember when I first started my trucking company and had to get all the licenses and registrations in order. It was so confusing trying to figure out what was required in each state! When we started routes through Kentucky, I learned about the KYU number and weight distance tax. Basically any truck over 59,999 lbs traveling through Kentucky needs this special tax license. It proves you’re registered properly with an interstate USDOT number, active MC if for-hire, and current UCR. Once approved, you file taxes quarterly to keep the KYU in good standing. I wish I’d known about the https://fmcafilings.com/filing/KYU site back then – they have a great page clearly explaining the KYU requirement and even offer filing services to handle the whole process for you. Would have saved me lots of headaches in those early days! Their site has been a great resource as I’ve expanded to more states and had to understand all the unique regulations. |
