A Very Small Reading List

A short reading list created for a bookfair

I’ve tried to come up with a list of readings that’s not too long, but covers what we want. I’d definitely recommend reading the books these readings come from. I’ve listed them in two groups, based on theme. Try to read from each list, if you don’t have time to read everything:

The Anarchist Critique of Education:

  • Colin Ward’s “Schools No Longer”, Chapter IX of Anarchy in Action. Starts pg. 77.
    (6 pages)
  • Scott Branson’s “Can I Relearn That?”, Chapter 4 of Practical Anarchism. Starts pg. 84.
    (15 pages)

Intellectual Combat and Epistemic Hierarchy

  • David Graeber’s “Anarchism, Academia, & the Avant-Garde”
    (13 pages)
  • Rebecca Pope-Rourke’s “Culture”, Ch. 1 of Unraveling Faculty Burnout. Starts pg. 25.
    (27 pages)
  • carla bergman & Nick Montgomery’s “Ideology” (pp. 86-94) and “You’re so paranoid, you probably think this section is about you” (pp. 100-105), both in Ch. 5 of Joyful Militancy.
