How can I choose a smart thermostat?

First of all, you need to focus on the models that are right for your heating system. It is obvious that you are not going to replace everything to install your new thermostat. Then, depending on your budget, you will choose a more or less sophisticated model. Some of the options I mentioned above seem to me to be essential for a connected model. However, there are cheaper and less complete models, but in the end connectivity will no longer really matter.

Then, depending on your budget, you will choose a more or less sophisticated model. Some of the options I mentioned above seem to me to be essential for a connected model. However, there are cheaper and less complete models, but in the end connectivity will no longer really matter.

Each thermostat will offer some advantages and features that others will not have. Some, for example, will control humidity, others connect to weather stations, while others benefit from a consulting system to obtain information to reduce energy consumption bills.

Personally, I advise you not to be too concerned about the starting price to get a product with features that reduce our consumption. The price of the thermostat will be amortized very quickly. That is why I think the best models are the ones I mention above, since they all have an intelligent system that will gradually analyze our behaviour and needs in order to reduce our expenses.

For the installation, it is hardly anything close to the same problem from one product to another. A handyman will not have too much trouble understanding how it works and will quickly be able to install his new thermostat. Otherwise, it is preferable to consult a professional to ensure that the product is working properly.

Finally, the design of the thermostat can be important. Some models are very modern and discreet and will generally fit most interiors very well. Others, often the cheapest, are simple plastic boxes without any charm that may disfigure the wall on which it will be placed.

A real return on investment
The cost of a connected thermostat really varies greatly from one model to another. However, you will quickly notice that your expense will quickly pay for itself. Compared to permanent heating, the bill is reduced by about 20 to 30%.

Even if you have a manual thermostat, you will necessarily save money. Your connected device will analyze your consumption and needs and will eventually know you better than you know yourself. In one year, you will easily refund your thermostat. There is therefore, in my opinion, no reason to hesitate. While some connected objects are unimportant and simply fun and offer a slight comfort of use, the connected thermostat makes it possible to obtain a really more comfortable fireplace with reduced management, while saving money.
