Discussion Asset Page

These are functional mockups, not design mockups

A

Attachments are not associated with comments. They are only associated with the page.

B

Attachments are associate with comments
You can upload attachments that get displayed inline with your comment.

My feeling is that A is the better way to go. Its more simple. And the whole attachments associated with comments thing that was part of the “super page” wire frame i think might be overly complex, and un-email like (which in this case is a bad thing :)

You are getting fast at the mockups! I changed my mind, these are really useful.

I like B, and my understanding is that B is closer to what UNICEF wants. We already have A, with a few minor UI tweaks (which, I guess, is a good argument for A).

I guess there are three questions, really. What does UNICEF want, what do we want to be the default in crabgrass for the long term, and is there a middle ground between the two? Maybe they are the same? I would think so, but then again, I like B.

The other unresolved issue in my mind is what happens when you click on the files in the “file shelf” or in the comment? Does the file download? Does it open a more detailed view? How do you delete/rename attachments?

I love the little text area resize handle in the corder! If only we had that working.

Attachment shelf
  • should be able to open and close.
  • default should be limited to one line
  • when you click more: it should expand out to show all the attachments.
  • should be at the top of the page if we can get the UI right: basecamp puts it on the bottom. not good to have to scroll all the way down.
