  • Date of resuming hours? Not discussed – but this was set as the week after March 3rd, back when hours were first reduced – link
  • Discussion about reduced hours this year, due to lack of staff
  • Ned noted that there have long been issues with having adequate staff and that there were a few unpleasant situations last year when would-be shop users confronted volunteers who were present to do something else (say, prepare for a mobile bike repair session) and were hostile that the shop wasn’t going to open.
  • Paul noted that users themselves have to take initiative to staff the shop and that should be a response to the attitude Ned encountered. More recruitment can help.
  • Carmen noted that the shop (mostly, sales of bikes, some new parts and donations) paid the costs of Free Ride last year, and reducing hours will have a negative effect on revenues. Also asked what might happen with Wednesdays, is there enough staff for that session? Action item: Communicate with the responsible committee re: Wednesday night.
  • Ned proposed an as-possible Thursday night session – users would be encouraged to check to see if there is adequate staff before going to the shop.
  • No conclusion was reached, the discussion can be continued.
