About

The role of Decentralizers is to ensure that decentralized organizing is maintained in a fluid, decentralized way during Oakland Spring Rising’s 40 Days of Farming.

Decentralizers strive to distribute information quickly and thoroughly, so to facilitate autonomous decision-making by groups and individuals, while working to overcome “bottle-necking," which is a problem that happens when one organizer takes on too much of the work or information, preventing others from acting in an efficient way. Likewise, the decentralizers can help with decision-making structures and processes, so to ensure that less-hierarchical organizing occurs.

The goal is to work to facilitate a better flow of labor and to help new people be able get involved quickly.

Decentralizer Tasks:

  • Help distribute information so to prevent “bottle-necking”
  • Implement organizing structures to better facilitate flow of labor and resources
  • Raise Public Awareness about Decentralization
