honoring

(of others) giving an appropriate level of respect where such respect is due

a.k.a. commendation, esteem, veneration

A common way this virtue is neglected is in commercial interactions, e.g. with wait staff. People sometimes treat e.g. a waiter as a less-than-human automaton. This might also be an easy place to begin practicing the virtue: when you’re in the checkout line, make eye-contact with the clerk, be attentive to their needs, make pleasant conversation, etc.

Treat people as ends, not as means (Kant). The I/Thou vs I/It relationship (Buber).
