I’ve now included the above links under “what’s wrong with nuclear power?”, together with a few embedded videos, on a separate page on the SNPN blog, under the title: “But what’s wrong with nuclear power?” Feel free to suggest other important links that could go up there, and to link to the page whenever someone asks the question: “What’s wrong with nuclear power?”. If I find the time, I might work on some A5 “FAQ” flyers about nuclear power, with each one perhaps targeted at a different group of people, e.g. climate activists, peace activists and human rights activists. The idea is that they would cover the key points very succinctly. Their titles could be something like: “Why the peace / climate / human rights movement should be concerned about nuclear power” Then they might deal with common arguments in Q&A format, e.g.: “We need nuclear power to tackle climate change, don’t we?” “We need nuclear power to keep the lights on, don’t we?” “They’ve found a solution for nuclear waste, haven’t they?” “I’m against nuclear weapons, but nuclear power’s ok, isn’t it?” “A Chernobyl-type disaster could never happen here, could it?” “Didn’t the Government say there would be no public subsidies for nuclear power?” |
